I recently read with interest an article about electricians working on oil and gas platforms out in Bass Strait, and the impressive incomes these guys take home. According to the article, total remuneration averages around $255,000.

These guys are really at the top of their game however, with the minimum requirement being dual trades in electrical and instrumentation.

Working seven consecutive 12 hour shifts on a fly-in-fly-out roster may not be for everyone, but if you can handle it there's clearly good money available.
